Chubby Group Brings the First Gyutan no Lemon Location to the U.S.

New York is soon to welcome the first U.S. location of Gyutan no Lemon. The restaurant, named Chubby Tan, will open on February 17, 2026. The restaurant by Chubby Group is located at 239 E Street in New York, where it will offer the authentic Gyutan-yaki experience.
Gyutan no Lemon is renowned for its signature thick-cut beef tongue steak, grilled over binchotan charcoal. This method helps the cut achieve its deep umami, tenderness, and smoky aroma. The dish soon became popular among diners and helped the brand build a devoted following over the years.
Chubby Tan will make its U.S. debut under the guidance of Chef Shunpei Takizawa’s culinary influence. He has earned two Michelin stars and is a highly acclaimed Japanese chef. His technical precision and respect for heritage will now play a key role in the authenticity and quality of Chubby Tan.
A Premium Culinary Experience

The experience at Chubby Tan is centered on its signature thick-sliced grilled beef tongue set meal. It is inspired by the Sendai preparation and is served with various other items. The set meal includes steamed rice, beef tongue soup with slow-simmered cuts, beef tongue curry, grated yams, and fresh seasonal salad.
Other premium offerings on the menu include a beef tongue curry set. Guests can also check out the Wagyu hamburger patties and the A5 Japanese Black beef with roe. New Yorkers can now access high-quality Japanese cuisine for both everyday dining and special occasions, as meals are priced at around $25 per person at Chubby Tan.
Inside the Restaurant

Guests arriving at Chubby Tan are not just served a fulfilling meal but also a front-row seat to culinary craftsmanship. Guests can watch the chefs grill thick-cut beef tongue in real time through a viewing window. The experience begins even before the food reaches the table as they watch the space filled with sizzling sounds and smoky aromas.
The interior design blends the Gyutan-yaki tradition and New York’s contemporary vibe. This creates an immersive experience for diners that helps them connect with the artistry of every dish.
