It’s time to rev up those engines, New York, because a brand new concept is coming to New York that promises to bring together man, woman, and machine in one communal space.

Full Tank Moto Cafe was a popular cafe and work space that sought to bring European-style motorcycle culture home to the US. As a combination cafe, restaurant, bar, garage, and gallery, Full Tank offered guests everything they could want in one centralized location. The cafe was especially popular amongst local motorcycle riders thanks to the space’s designated parking lot and garage space. Full Tank functioned as a community-based DIY workshop for bikers, giving them the space they needed to do necessary maintenance on their bikes. As one of the only concepts of its like in the city, Full Tank became something of a home away from home for New York’s many riders.

While Full Tank originally opened during the pandemic, it shut down temporarily as owner Steve Peirce decided to team up with another company that shares his vision for a communal DIY space and bar. In a phone interview with What Now New York, Peirce disclosed that he has partnered up with The House of Machines, a similar concept to Full Tank that is based out of South Africa, to bring the first-ever House of Machines to the US.

Pierce will be opening up The House of Machines in the former Full Tank space at 49 Monroe Street, between Market Street and Mechanics Alley. The House of Machines will function similarly to Full Tank, offering guests a place to park and work on their bikes alongside a robust menu of food, coffee, beer, wine, and cocktails. Originally founded in Cape Town, The House of Machines was created to be the essential brick and mortar meeting house for the local community, or as they describe it, “a beacon against the white noise of every day life.”

Peirce is currently in the process of acquiring a liquor license for The House of Machines, and is proposing operating hours of 7:00 AM 12:00 AM every day, seven days a week. According to Peirce, the team is hoping to have the new space operational by June. For more information on further developments, you can follow The House of Machines NYC on Instagram.
