Gertie closed in its original location on Grand Street in Williamsburg in June after a six-year run. However, the “Jew-ish” diner and bar recently announced that they will be reopening in a new spot. Gertie is heading to 602 Vanderbilt Ave. in Prospect Heights, with plans to open this fall in the R&D Foods space, which is closing on Aug. 9.

“You’ll find our hand-rolled and kettle-boiled bagels back on the menu, alongside house-smoked fish and meats, prepared foods, boozy sodas and all your faves for takeaway,” Gertie announced on Facebook. “Stay tuned for more news! We can’t wait to welcome you back!”

The new Gertie location will be right down the road from sister restaurant Gertrude’s. It will be reformatted as a to-go location, according to reporting by Eater NY.

Nate Adler and Rachel Jackson opened Gertie in 2019. Attempts to reach the ownership for more details on the forthcoming location were unsuccessful prior to the time of publication.
