Hoboken Loses a Neighborhood Favorite After 10 Years

The Roost Outpost coffee shop in Hoboken has closed its doors as the owners could not secure a lease extension.

The Roost Outpost, a popular coffee shop located near the Hoboken train station, suddenly closed its doors on March 22. In a post to customers, the cafe thanked the community for 10 years of support.

The Roost Outpost Closed in Hoboken

On March 20, 2026, The Roost Outpost shared an update with its customers. Located at 55 1st St. in Hoboken, the cafe closed after its lease could not be renewed. Sunday was the last service day of the cafe.

The Roost Outpost drew Hoboken residents and daily commuters with its welcoming atmosphere. Many locals and loyal patrons are shocked by the closure.

Over the years, it became a neighborhood hub where locals and visitors enjoyed coffee, pastries, and light bites.

The Roost Outpost specializes in locally roasted, single-origin, direct-trade coffee from around the world. The menu features a variety of espresso beverages, cold brew and nitro coffee, and loose-leaf tea.

Coffee enthusiasts can still enjoy The Roost Outpost’s coffee, as fresh-roasted beans will be delivered to their doorsteps. Customers can place an order through the website for a variety of coffee beans.

The owners said they are exploring new locations as they plan the next chapter for The Roost Coffee Co. The post ended on a positive, hopeful note that “This is goodbye for now, but not forever.”
