Il Mulino has been part of the New York community since it opened its flagship restaurant in Greenwich Village in 1981. In 2012, the brand opened a spot on 60th Street on the Upper East Side. Now, the historic brand is planning to relocate its Uptown location from 60th Street to 58 E. 56th St., with plans to reopen as Il Mulino Madison, according to a spokesperson with the company.
The location on 60th Street recently closed in light of the relocation. The team is hoping to open the new location on the Upper East Side later this summer, though they are still in the planning stages for the new spot. They plan to release more details in the coming weeks, a spokesperson told What Now New York.
Customers can expect the Italian restaurant to feature the same authentic dishes that have made the brand a staple on the New York dining scene. The menu features pasta, meat dishes, seafood, wine and cocktails.
“Join us for an extraordinary dining experience where time-honored culinary traditions blend seamlessly with the dynamic spirit of New York City’s most refined neighborhoods,” the Il Mulino Madison website states. “Nestled on 56th Street just off iconic Madison Avenue, Il Mulino New York – Madison brings elevated Italian cuisine to the heart of the Upper East Side — offering a sophisticated setting for indulging in both beloved classics and inventive new dishes.”
Il Mulino, owned by Jerry Katzoff and Brian Galligan, has expanded to multiple restaurants across the country, including spots in Florida and New Jersey.
