An izakaya, Jade Rabbit, is opening on the rooftop of the Kimpton Era Midtown NY, the cherry on top of the new hotel opening near Rockefeller Center in March, according to a press release.

The Jade Rabbit is named after a figure from East Asian mythology, a white rabbit who lives on the moon with the moon goddess Change’e. Also known as the Moon Rabbit, he uses a mortar and pestle to pound out the elixir of life.

You may not find the elixir of life at Jade Rabbit, but the bar’s cocktails are a nice consolation prize. Enjoy classic Asian and tiki cocktails while you look across the Manhattan skyline from up high, perhaps gaining an idea how the mythical Jade Rabbit sees the world.

The bar, and all the restaurants at the Kimpton Era, are operated by APICII, a hospitality group with restaurants across the country, like Veranda in Los Angeles, Stock and Bond in Oklahoma City and Harta in Midtown Manhattan.

Jade Rabbit will open in early April, the last of four concepts within the Kimpton Era. The hotel will first debut Bar Rocco, an Italian American brasserie, followed by The Parlor, an all-day cafe and bar. Latin steakhouse Amasa will open in mid-March.
