Yoko-Cho is looking to bring Japanese cuisine to 137 East 13th Street, according to paperwork recently filed with the community board.

The space formerly belonged to Chinese restaurant Silky Kitchen, which relocated its Union Square location to the Financial District at the end of March.

The paperwork indicates that the proposed menu features items like okonomiyaki, shishito pepper, agedashi tofu, yakitori, donburi and a variety of ramen options such as tonkotsu ramen and shoyu ramen.

Plans for the space call for 15 tables with 38 seats, and the proposed hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. daily.

The principal for the restaurant is Chaiwarut Wongkamlai, who also operates Thai restaurant Krob Kreung Krob Ros in Astoria and Kohoku-Ku Ramen in Hell’s Kitchen. Wongkamlai has been operating Krob Kreung Krob Ros since 2024 and Kohoku-Ku Ramen since 2023.

As of now, an opening timeline for Yoko-Cho remains unclear.
