South African wine bar and restaurant Kaia has a new location in the works on the Upper East Side. The spot is heading to 1446 First Avenue. Owner Suzaan Bristol told What Now New York that the location is currently under construction.

The original location on Third Avenue opened in 2011. The First Avenue location will mark the first expansion for the brand, though Upper East Site reported in August that Kaia was planning to relocate as their lease approached expiration along Third Avenue.

The wine bar has become known for its unique South African-inspired dishes. Kaia serves a variety of dishes, including peri peri deviled eggs, tacos, a lamb burger, Capetonian street food, elk carpaccio and halibut. The wine list features reds, whites, roses and sparkling wines. There is also a cocktail list and a limited selection of beers on tap.

As of now, further details regarding the new space remain unknown. What Now New York has reached out for additional information.
