The French-style café and sandwich shop La Sandwicherie is opening its third outpost in Chelsea soon, its co-owner Daron Yemini confirms.

The concept started as a food truck that was parked near McCarren Park for a year before the team debuted its flagship store in Greenpoint in September 2022. Yemini, a “recovering” attorney, real estate investor and broker, told Greenpointers that he visited the cart with his daughter and tried something new. He loved it so much that he approached its owners, Frenchmen Laurent d’Antonio and Massire Diawara, and pitched them on opening up a permanent storefront.

“I felt a need for a great sandwich shop in the neighborhood, and once this location popped on the market I knew what it ‘ought to be,” Yemini told Greenpointers about its flagship.

Now the team serves French sandwiches and groceries, as well as Italian coffee, at their stores. Its baguette sandwiches include but are not limited to a Le Parisien with Parisian ham, arugula, brie cheese, mayo and tomatoes and a La Pâté Rustic with rustic French pâté, grained mustard, mayo, cornichons and arugula with prices ranging from $13-$18, as well as an array of café beverages like a cappuccino and a latte at below market prices of $3-$4.

Soon after debuting the flagship, the team opened up a second location in the Upper East Side and are now making their downtown Manhattan debut in Chelsea. However, Yemini tells What Now New York he hopes to continue opening up more storefronts in the future.

“We have the energy, [and] we have the concept,” he says about expanding. “We are heading in that direction.”
