Upper East Side chain Madame Bonté Cafe is planning a new spot at 450 East 81st St. on the Upper East Side, according to community board filings. The paperwork does not indicate whether or not the forthcoming spot will be another Madame Bonté Cafe or a different concept. However, this location would mark the fourth Madame Bonté Cafe location, joining existing spots in Yorkville, Lenox Hill and the Upper East Side.

The paperwork indicates plans for a bar on site. The team is aiming to acquire a wine, beer and cider license. There are also plans for a sidewalk cafe.

Madame Bonté Cafe serves hot and cold handcrafted coffee beverages, as well as matcha and chai lattes. The spot also serves sandwiches, including a caprese panini with fresh mozzarella, tomato and pesto on ciabatta; avocado toast; a ham and cheese croissant; and jambon-beurre with brie, which includes Parisian ham with double cream brie cheese on ciabatta. Pastry offerings include danishes, croissants and Kouign Amman.

Currently, only the Madame Bonté Cafe location on 84th Street serves wine, doubling as a wine bar and cafe.

As of now, further details regarding the 81st Street location remain unclear, including an opening timeline. What Now New York has reached out to owner Deniz Karafazli for additional information but did not hear back prior to the time of publication.
