Matcha House is heading to 203 E. 10th Street in East Village with plans to open this summer, according to the brand’s Instagram page. ChikaLicious closed in the space last year.
Matcha House’s website emphasizes quality, transparency and community as the pillars of the brand.
“Matcha House is built on the idea that excellence should be the standard. Every detail — from the moment our tea plants sprout from their seeds, to our tearista’s craft of your drink — is thoughtfully studied and curated to produce the highest quality and taste,” the website states. “We hope you leave our House feeling energized and connected, yet calm and grounded.”
The Instagram page indicates plans to source matcha from award-winning farms and distributors to bring the best matcha products to New York. As the brick-and-mortar location has been in the works in East Village, Matcha House has been doing pop-ups and collaborations around the city.
A full menu is still listed as “coming soon” on the website.
Michelle Yeung is the owner behind the concept. An interview with Yeung is forthcoming.
