Kingston-based Moonburger is bringing its smashburgers to Nolita this fall. The spot is expected to open in a 700-square-foot space at 72 Kenmare Street.

This will be the fifth location for the brand, joining existing spots in Kingston, New Paltz, Poughkeepsie and Williamsburg. The Williamsburg location opened up last summer, offering an ideal segue for the brand into the Manhattan market.

“We’re thrilled to have our first location in Manhattan,” owner Jeremy Robinson-Leon told What Now New York. “There was a lot of excitement for us to continue our growth.”

The location is a second-generation restaurant space that will feature a small dining room as well as a pickup area. Expect to see design elements like glossy white tile and a custom LED neon run around the store.

“It will be very much in the Moonburger experience and aesthetic, which I would say is invoking classic and nostalgic burger joints and also taking it into the future,” Robinson-Leon said.

Moonburger offers a simple menu, including burger options like the MB classic cheeseburger, featuring a smashed patty, MB special sauce, American cheese, dill pickles and lettuce on a Schmidt’s potato bun, and the #9 cheeseburger with ketchup, yellow mustard, American cheese, onions and dill pickle on a Schmidt’s potato bun. They also serve fries and shakes with flavors like brownie batter and strawberry matcha.

“One of our key calling cards is that we have some of the best quality beef you can get anywhere,” Robinson-Leon said. “We source from a family farm up in Seneca Falls and this is some of the highest quality beef you can get anywhere, let alone in fast-casual.”

Expect to see veggie and vegan options on the menu, as well. Moonburger will be rolling out its housemade veggie burgers at all locations later this year.

The team is targeting an October opening for the Nolita location.

“We’ve been super blessed to have incredible support from each of our local communities and neighborhoods and folks from afar as well who travel for Moonburger,” Robinson-Leon said. “People keep asking us to bring Moonburger to their communities, so we’re going to keep it going.”
