A brand new omakase concept has just launched on the Lower East Side and is getting ready to plan something big for when their soft opening finishes.

About two weeks ago, New York was introduced to its newest omakase restaurant. Established by owner Tianyan Pan at 181 Essex Street, Takumi Omakase is the latest restaurant to open up in the East Village this year. Offering a staggering 15-course meal for as little as $85, Takumi is quickly setting itself up for success in the vibrant neighborhood.

Takumi offers guests a vibrant tasting course that takes them through a culinary journey, experiencing some of the finest cuts of fish that can be found in Japanese cuisine. Takumi even features the rare Hokkaido Uni and A5 Wagyu beef, creating an unforgettable tasting experience that will be sure to bring enamored guests back time and time again.

At the moment, Takumi is in the middle of its soft opening, and operates from 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM Sunday through Thursday, and 5:00 PM -11:00 PM Friday and Saturday. Takumi does not yet have a liquor license, so the restaurant is currently operating on a BYOB basis. However, Tianyan is trying to change that, and is currently applying with the community board for a brand new beer, wine, and cider license for the space.

According to a representative of the restaurant who spoke with What Now, the team is hoping to have their official grand opening ready by next month, when they can finally end their soft-opening phase and serve beer to their thirsty customers. For more information about Takumi’s growth and expansion, as well as information regarding reservations, you can follow their newly released Facebook page.
