A brand new restaurant concept is getting ready to replace the long-shuttered karaoke space on St Marks.

Gonzo’s is a new restaurant concept that is getting ready to take over the space at 6 St Marks Place, which formerly housed St Marks Karaoke. The new concept is owned by Ferdinando Fragola, a veteran hospitality professional who currently operates the popular Leonardo’s Pizzeria & Restaurant in Larchemont NY.

The new concept is envisioned by Fragola and his team as a combination rehearsal space and catering establishment. As a former karaoke lounge, the space boasts 11 distinct, sound-proofed rooms which will be reserved for local bands and productions looking to find suitable rehearsal space. Fragola and his team will then establish a new catering service in the space in order to provide their guests whatever sustenance they may need during their rehearsal.

Gonzo’s is expected to serve American comfort food to its guests, and Fragola has already provided a sample menu outlining the type of cuisine he hopes to offer. The menu lists a wide assortment of bar snacks like chicken quesadillas, fried pickles, artichoke dip, loaded nachos, and even a charcuterie board. There are also options for different kinds of burgers, as well as plenty of wraps, sandwiches, and sides.

Additionally, Fragola is hoping to acquire a new liquor license for the space, whose license expired in 2020 when the karaoke lounge shut down. To accomplish this, he and his team are aggressively soundproofing the space in order to assure that neighbors will remain unbothered by the potential rehearsals. Of course, the soundproofing will also be necessary for the bands, who will want to hear every small detail of their rehearsals with no outside interruptions.

The space is expected to operate from 12:00 PM – 12:00 AM daily, seven days a week, and will occupy the second and third floors of the space, as the first floor will continue to be occupied by Barcade. According to Fragola, the team is still very early into development and there are not many more details that can be shared at this point in time. Until the team is ready to launch the proper social media channels for Gonzo’s you will just have to stay vigilant for future updates to the space.
