One of New York’s best Italian restaurant operators is currently getting ready to debut a brand new concept for Greenwich Village.

Mr. Capri is the latest project from New York restaurateur Alessandro Passante. Passante is best known as the owner of Bocca Cucina E Bar, a popular restaurant known for combining ancient Roman culinary traditions with modern Italian cuisine. Prior to opening Bocca, Passante served as General manager for Sant Ambroeus.

Now, Alessandro is gearing up to debut his latest project – Mr. Capri. Moving into the space at 33 West 8th Street, Mr. Capri will highlight the artistic and culinary traditions of Capri, a beautiful Italian island located off the Amalfi coast. A major destination for tourists, people come from all over the world to experience the joys of Caprese hospitality. Now, Alessandro and his team will be bringing that same joy directly to the people of New York.

Mr. Capri will be replacing Yuco on West 8th Street. A popular Mexican restaurant highlighting cuisine from Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula, Yuca sadly closed at the end of 2021 and the space has remained vacant since. Before Yuca, the space belonged to a restaurant called Ardyn, and before that it operated as Burger Joint from 2008-2019.

The location is standard for the neighborhood, and features a maximum occupancy of 74 guests. Currently in the process of applying for a full restaurant liquor license, Alessandro is proposing operating hours of 5:00 PM – 11:00 AM Sunday through Thursday, and 5:00 PM – 12:00 AM Friday and Saturday. While Alessandro is too early into development to host a website for Mr. Capri, you can follow him on Instagram for regular updates as well ongoing information regarding Bocca.
