Chef Salvo Lo Castro Brings Sicilian Heritage to SoHo’s Dining Scene

Casasalvo draws on Chef Salvo Lo Castro’s Sicilian roots and Mediterranean influences, bringing his vision to a coveted corner of SoHo. The chef, whose acclaimed career includes cooking for fashion icons, world leaders, and two popes, has previously launched three popular Casasalvo cafés across Manhattan.

The restaurant celebrates Southern European gastronomy through both culinary and design innovation. Personally designed by the chef, the signature color palette remains white and green, with the addition of white marble floors, walnut paneling, and glowing gold onyx bar.

Filled with Mediterranean greenery, the space reflects the restaurant’s attention to detail and elegance.

Signature Dishes Rooted in Italian and Mediterranean Traditions

Casasalvo menu blends elevated fare with comforting, familiar flavors. Each meal begins with complimentary 48-month aged Parmesan and marinated olives. House-made pasta and slow-cooked sauces are at the core of the menu.

Other signature dishes include Spaghettone with lobster cream and tomato, Ravioli Ragù Mediterraneo, Paccheri Guanciale and Pistacchio, Riso Carnaroli with Parmigiano cream and summer truffles, as well as Octopus with Sicilian Purée.

The mains include Sole with capers, olives, tomato, and mint, and Branzino filleted tableside. The charcoal-grilled meat section has Ossobuco Casasalvo and Colorado Lamb Chops. Sides include eggplant caponata and heirloom tomato salad.

Casasalvo’s desserts highlight regional specialties from across the Italian peninsula. Guests can indulge in Millefoglie with Chantilly-cream, Sicilian cinnamon, and strawberries or Babà al Rum with strawberry mousse and Sorrento lemon flavor. Whether rich, creamy, or citrusy, the desserts are designed to end the meal on a decadent note.

The beverage program includes a 350-bottle wine list featuring selections from Italy, France, Spain, California, and New Zealand. Some include renditions of Italian classics like Martini, Aperol Spritz, and Negroni.
