Primo Waterfront, a popular Italian restaurant on Newburgh’s waterfront, announced it will close this weekend. The waterfront restaurant announced the news in a recent Instagram post, thanking guests and the community for their support over the years.
Primo Waterfront is Closing
Located at 50 Front St. in Newburgh, Primo Waterfront opened during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. On September 24, the restaurant announced it had been sold and would welcome guests for the final time on September 28. It started as a small project and gained a great customer base during the last four years.
In its Instagram announcement, Primo Waterfront thanked the community and encouraged guests to make reservations for a final visit. In the hope of a better future plan, the post read, “We are currently working on ways to bring Primo back to life in a different iteration down the road, but that’s conversation for another day. So while this is goodbye for now, it’s not goodbye forever”.

About Primo Waterfront
Primo Waterfront, situated on the Newburgh waterfront, introduced an airy, coastal-Italian vibe to the Hudson Valley. Uncovered walnut beams, a window wall overlooking the Hudson, and an open kitchen give the restaurant a coastal-Italian feel reminiscent of the Amalfi Coast.
Outside, the space has over 170 seats, an outdoor bar tucked beneath a covered pergola, Mediterranean-inspired tile detailing, and expansive Hudson views, all complemented by the restaurant’s dedication to using locally sourced fresh produce and seafood from New York-area farms and fisheries.
Behind the scenes are owner/operator Jesse Camac and Executive Chef Ralph Bello, who directed the restaurant’s culinary direction with an emphasis on modern Italian cuisine. Their efforts contributed toward Primo’s image not only as a restaurant to eat at, but as a destination where ambiance, hospitality, and coastal Italian flavors came together.
Primo Waterfront’s closing marks the end of a beloved riverside dining spot in the Hudson Valley. Even as the Hudson Valley dining scene evolves, restaurants that combine local ingredients, creative menus, and unique settings continue to draw both residents and visitors to Newburgh and neighboring river towns.
