Northport Landmark Restaurant to Serve Its Final Dinner on November 8

After 16 years in Northport, The Whale’s Tale is preparing to close its doors. The waterfront restaurant will host farewell celebrations through November 8.

After 16 years in Northport, The Whale’s Tale is bidding farewell to its loyal customers. The restaurant will host farewell celebrations beginning November 1, leading up to its final dinner on November 8.

The Whales Tale Down Announces Closure

Located on Fort Salonga Road at the Britannia Yachting Center, The Whale’s Tale Restaurant has long been a Northport staple. The waterfront restaurant offered both indoor and outdoor seating overlooking Northport Harbor.

The restaurant announced its closure on social media. Its farewell events will run from November 1 through November 8. On November 4, The Whale’s Tale will host its final Taco Tuesday, featuring tacos, tequila, and throwback tunes.

The celebration continues through November 7 with the Final Friday Happy Hour, wrapping up on November 8 with a Grand Finale dinner.

In an official Instagram post, the restaurant wrote, “Northport, this is it. After 16 unforgettable years, we’re saying goodbye the only way we know how—with one final week full of good vibes, good people, and great memories. GET DOWN HERE; LET’S MAKE IT COUNT!”

Emotional Farewell from Customers

After the closure was announced, loyal customers took to Instagram to share memories and messages of support. Comments quickly filled with heartfelt messages thanking the team for years of good food and community spirit.

One customer wrote, “Some amazing times here!! The crew will definitely be missed.”

Another customer shared, “You will be so missed. We loved your place – delicious food, great staff, and great drinks! . Hopefully, we can make it to the Hamptons location. Best of luck—definitely a loss for Northport!”

With The Whale’s Tale closing, Northport’s dining scene loses a longtime favorite. The restaurant’s legacy will be remembered by locals for years to come.
