West Village will soon be home to Moon Flower, a wine bar and restaurant featuring natural wines from indie producers, according to an alcohol license application filed with the City of New York.

Rebecca Johnson and Rowen McDermott are behind Moon Flower, the application states, which will be located at 201 West 11th Street.

Johnson and McDermott are well known in the Jersey City restaurant scene. The duo is behind the highly-rated Frankie which is known for its natural wines and menu items like its Whole Branzino, Coconut Green Curry, and Steak & Onion Pie.

Moon Flower is set to open in a 400-square-foot space previously occupied by another wine bar — Vin Sur Vingt — and Mighty Quinn’s, a barbecue restaurant, before that.

Moon Flower will “specialize in natural wine from indie producers, seasonal ingredients from Union Square Farmers’ Market, and dock to dish seafood purveyors,” according to the filing.

As they look to the future, Moon Flower also hopes to offer café tables on the sidewalk so patrons can experience an ideal evening dining al fresco.
