Wine bar Beautiful Eyes is slated to join the Lower East Side at 264 Bowery later this year. It will be “an upcoming queer Filipino wine bar,” according to the Instagram page.
The team behind Pinch Chinese, which opened in 2016 in SoHo under the leadership of owner Sean Tang, is behind this new concept. Pinch Chinese serves Chinese cuisine such as dumplings, peking duck, Hong Kong-style lobster and fried rice.
Beautiful Eyes will offer a sneak peek of their menu at a six-course tasting menu event on June 9. It will feature “bold Filipino-New York food accompanied by a thoughtful beverage pairing.”
“We’re hoping to show you how our sense memories of this cuisine make us unbelievably happy, and to make new, exciting ones with you,” an Instagram announcement states.
Miguel de Leon is heading the wine program for the new spot, and Lj Almendras will direct the kitchen.
“Our food is Filipino through the lens of Queer New York, and our wine is minimally intervened but maximally emotional,” the announcement reads.
As of now, details on the menu and the design of the space are still to come. What Now New York reached out to ownership but could not obtain a comment prior to the time of publication.
