The New York-based bagel chain PopUp Bagels is targeting The Penn District for another location in Manhattan. “Coming soon” signs are up at 7 Pennsylvania Plaza, with a spring opening expected.
This will be the sixth location for the brand in New York. There are currently four locations open in New York: Downtown, Upper West Side, Upper East Side and Roslyn. What Now New York also confirmed with owner Adam Goldberg in December that a location is on the way to Tribeca, slated to open in April.
Goldberg previously told What Now New York that he has plans for 10-15 stores in the New York market.
The brand is also growing into new U.S. markets through franchise opportunities, targeting areas like Florida and Charlotte. It already has four locations open in Connecticut and two in Massachusetts.
PopUp Bagels describes itself as “not famous but known” on its website.
“We try to keep it simple: hot bagels, schmears on the side,” Goldberg said in a past interview. “Everything is straight from the oven — hot bagels rolling out every six to eight minutes.”
