Luck plays a bigger role than we might think in terms of how our lives pan out. Serendipity 3 celebrates the fortuitous moments that bring people together, make days brighter and change the course of people’s lives. The whimsical, laid-back atmosphere actually inspired a rom-com of the same name back in 2001. Even before then, Serendipity 3 was a long-standing a New York institution known for its frozen hot chocolate and celebrity visits form Andy Warhol, Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe, Cher and many, many others.
Now, Serendipity 3 is working to open a second New York location in Times Square. According to Crain’s New York Business the owners of Serendipity 3 have signed a 15-year lease on the ground floor of the OYO Hotel at 157 W. 47th St. This second location will offer a modern twist on the Upper East Side’s well-established aesthetic.
The Upper East Side location was temporarily closed and renovated in 2021 according to 6sqft. Now, Serendipity 3 has gained a cult following for its highly-coveted Frrrozen Hot Chocolate and colorful interiors. The brand was founded by three former ballerinas Stephen Bruce, Calvin Holt and Patch Carradine. It seems ownership has changed hands in the brand’s seven decade history. Selena Gomez was named as one of the co-owners of the brand by Forbes.
What Now NY could not immediately connect with a representative from Serendipity 3 for a comment on the new location.
The 3,200 square-foot space is set to open on August 20.
