Times Square has always been an important epicenter of New York’s food industry. Bringing together an eclectic mix of New York’s most diverse restaurants, 42nd Street has long been home to the heart of New York’s busy culture. Now, an authentic soup dumpling restaurant will be moving into the spot left behind by Fuji Hibachi at 321A West 42nd Street.
DD Soup Dumpling House is a brand new restaurant from owner Shu Dong. Envisioned as a traditional xiaolongbao house, the restaurant will serve authentic soup dumplings with rich, savory broths. Offering up a diverse assortment of dishes, the restaurant will serve their traditional buns alongside cold salads and tripe, hot soups, noodles, chicken, beef and fish entrees. The restaurant is also in the process of acquiring a beer, wine, and cider license from the state of New York.
Moving into the spot at 321A West 42nd Street, DD Soup Dumpling House will be replacing Fuji Hibachi. Fuji Hibachi was a popular Japanese restaurant established by Hibachi Chef Tian H in 2016. Finding it difficult to discover good Hibachi in his neighborhood, Tian decided to open up a restaurant of his own. It is still unclear at the moment what the fate will be for the restaurant next door at 321B West 42nd Street, Fuji Sake Bar.
Located between 9th Avenue and 10th Avenue, the location is well-suited to attract plenty of foot traffic. Only one block away from Times Square, DD Soup Dumpling House is in the heart of the theatre district and will make for a fitting dinner for tourists and locals alike. Capable of seating up to 37 guests at one time, the restaurant will be open daily from 11AM-12PM and will play light background music until 10PM.
