One Cornelia Street is slated to receive a California-based taco spot. Tacos 1986 will be joining a multi-concept project at the address in West Village.

This will be the first location outside of California for the brand, which currently has seven locations operating around the Los Angeles area. Owners Victor Delgado and Jorge Alvarez have been expanding with new locations since Tacos 1986 got its start as a food cart  in 2018.

Tacos 1986 offers Mexican cuisine, including Tijuana-style tacos, mulitas, quesadillas, vampiros, burritos, bowls and chips and guacamole. It also serves a breakfast menu featuring breakfast burritos and tacos.

The West Village spot will be accompanied by two bar concepts from the team behind East Village speakeasy Please Don’t Tell, according to Eater NY. All three will operate at 1 Cornelia Street.

Delgado briefly confirmed the New York expansion in a phone call with What Now New York. However, he was not immediately available to provide further comment on the space.

The spot is expected to open later this spring.
