The ownership team of Taqueria 86 on West 94th Street has filed paperwork for a new location. Taqueria Condesa is coming to 824 Ninth Avenue, according to paperwork filed with the community boards.

The location was previously home to El Centro, a restaurant that closed in June after a nearly 20 year run.

The new spot, listed as “coming soon” on the Taqueria Condesa website, is described as an “upscale Mexican taqueria” in the paperwork. It will have 16 tables that will seat 47, as well as one bar with four bar seats.

The proposed menu includes guacamole and chips, quesadillas, burritos and a wide variety of tacos. It appears that the menu will feature similarities to the current offerings at Taqueria 86/

Hours are expected to be 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily. It appears that the spot is currently under construction, with plans to change signage.

What Now New York could not reach owner Leonel Tovar Baizan for comment by the time of publication. At this time, an exact opening timeline remains unknown, but it will likely open in 2025.
