Tarallucci e Vino is planning to open a fifth location at 620 West 42nd St., according to community board filings. The restaurant will join the Silver Towers Building, taking the space that was home to Oslo Coffee, which closed in July.
“I think there is a lot of potential there, and the area there is a little underserved in terms of restaurants,” owner Luca DiPietro told What Now New York.
The spot will have about 4,600 square feet of indoor space and about 2,800 square feet of outdoor space. It will function as a classic Italian cafe and wine bar throughout the day and offer a full-service restaurant experience in the evening. Community board filings indicate plans for 13 indoor tables that will seat 26 and 14 outdoor tables that will seat 28. There will also be a stand-up bar that will seat 13.
Menu items include pastries, breakfast items like quiche and French toast, pasta dishes, paninis and dinner entrees like seared Atlantic salmon, charred octopus or New York strip steak. There is also an Italian-inspired wine list.
The new location is expected to have a similar design and menu to the existing location, though DiPietro said there will likely be some items on the menu unique to that spot. However, the menu is still in development.
Currently, Tarallucci e Vino has spots in Union Square, the Upper West Side, NoMad and Cooper Hewitt.
The proposed hours of operation for the new location are 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. daily. DiPietro said the team is targeting a November opening.
“I’ve been spending time in the area and talking to the people, and there is a need for the high-quality offering that we have,” DiPietro said. “I think people will respond very well. It’s a fast-growing area, so it should be a fun new place for us.”
