The rockstar restaurateur team behind Brandit Hospitality Group is looking to open a new Moroccan restaurant in Chelsea.
Its members Cole Bernard, Yosi Benvenisti and Theliau Probst are behind some of the city’s most popular spots including Bounce Sport Club in Flatiron and Maison Close in Soho. It is also looking to debut a new disco in Chelsea at the end of the year, as previously reported by What Now New York. The new yet-to-be-named Moroccan restaurant will have French, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern influences. Its decor is slated to be “bold, vibrant, and richly textured,” “evoking a sense of exotic luxury and timeless elegance” that is both “romantic and enchanting,” according to its liquor license application. It will take over the space formerly occupied by The Ainsworth on 122 West 26th Street.
The menu will feature a wide-range of worldly dishes including Middle Eastern starters such as a hummus trio, kefta-style lamb and veal skewers in a mint sauce and cauliflower tabbouleh, entrees including chicken and vegetable tagines and bluefin tuna with citrus and oriental crispy octopus, and desserts with date and almond bases using French pastry and custard techniques.
Similar to its sister concepts, the Moroccan restaurant will feature a robust cocktail menu including but not limited to its Desert Sparrow with rum lengthened with green tea infused mint and Sichuan pepper and its Moussier’s Redstart with gin, Normandy aperitif, apple juice, four-spice syrup emulsified with Aquafaba.
