A new bar called Cocktail is slated to open in the basement space at 41-43 East Seventh St. in East Village. JT Munson and James Carbone, the team behind now shuttered concepts Paloma Rocket, Jimmy’s No. 43 and Muggsy’s Chow, are behind the new concept, according to community board filings.

The spot will serve a limited food menu, including Muggsy’s Original East Village Cole Slaw (green market salad with beets, carrots, white cabbage, soy sauce and rice vinegar) and The Chow-Chow (a Ukrainian sliced pastrami beef brisket sandwich). There will also be pizza available on the last Saturday of every month, with individual options alongside a pint of beer.

The filed paperwork also indicates plans for pop-ups and bring-your-own-food options.

It appears that Cocktail will feature entertainment and live performances, including spoken word, dramatic performances and comedy. The paperwork calls for eight to 12 tables with 57 seats, as well as two service bars and one stand-up bar that will seat 13.

The proposed hours of operation are 4 p.m. to 4 a.m. daily.

As of now, an opening timeline remains unclear.
