Scott and Sara announced the closure in an emotional message posted to social media last week. The couple said the decision to close the longtime Monroe spot came with a heavy heart.

“This is the hardest decision Sara and I have ever made. We hope that the friendship we have made over the 20+ years will last forever. We thank first and foremost our wonderful staff over these many years. It is with you that we have made it this far,” they said in a message on social media.

They also thanked their loyal customers for their years of continued support. “We cannot express our gratitude enough to all the great people we have met over the years. We hope that the Bourbon St. memories will last a lifetime,” they mentioned in their note.

Although no reason was given, Bourbon Street Bar & Grill has long been a fixture in Monroe’s dining scene. Over the years, it has built a long list of devoted followers among both locals and visitors alike.

The post drew dozens of responses from customers sharing memories and well-wishes. Many were upset over the notice and some shared fond memories of their time at the eatery.

As the restaurant prepares to close on July 18, it leaves behind two decades of local memories and community connection. With messages still coming in from longtime patrons, Bourbon Street Bar & Grill remains a beloved part of Monroe’s restaurant history.
