One of the most popular Thai restaurants on the Upper East Side is currently getting ready to open a brand new location in Hell’s Kitchen.

Up Thai was established in 2014 at 1411 2nd Avenue, between 73rd street and 74th street. Focused on serving “upscale spins on Thailand’s iconic street fare,” Up Thai has spent nearly a decade serving locals specialty chef creations like Duck Tamarind, Massaman Curry, Gai Yang, and Thai Crepe Dumplings.

With an intricately detailed interior, Up Thai evokes an authentic Thai Garden with beautiful lanterns and wood accents designed to inspire a romantic and inviting atmosphere. With a curated menu of specialty craft cocktails, Up Thai has everything you need to make lasting memories with your friends and loved ones.

Now, it appears that Up Thai will be embarking on its first ever expansion, opening up at 749 Ninth Avenue, Striking a 10-year lease with Capital Street Advisors, Up Thai’s new expansion will feature 1,850 square feet of space and is expected to offer both dine-in and take-out services. The new location was previously occupied by GFG Bakery Café, a well-established Greek café that was known especially for serving authentic baklava.

Located in the heart of Hell’s Kitchen, Up Thai’s new location is only a short walk away from 50th Street’s C-Train Stop. Up Thai will face some stiff competition in the neighborhood, only a few blocks away from Pure Thai Cookhouse and VIV, but given the positive reviews of their Upper East Side Location, Up Thai is sure to offer the neighborhood something special. Be sure to follow Up Thai on Instagram for more information as they get ready to break further details about their expansion.
