The Sweetish Chef is closing its Ballston Spa storefront at 76 Front Street in Ballston Spa, New York on May 1, 2026. Due to rising costs, economic pressures, and personal reasons, the bakery is shutting down.
The Sweetish Chef Shuts Storefront, Online Business Stays
After nearly five years of business, The Sweetish Chef will officially shut its Front Street store. Britt Young, owner of the trendy eatery, shared the closure announcement on social media with an emotional note.
In a Facebook post, Young wrote, “The Front St. shop will close on May 1st, but orders will keep rolling—just in a new way.”
Young clarified that while the storefront is closing, the business will continue operating online. The bakery will continue to operate through online ordering. “You can still place orders online, and there will be pick-up options available so you can get your goodies without missing a beat,” said the owner.
The bakery is known for grain-free, sugar-free, and low-carbohydrate baked goods, along with gluten-free and diabetic-friendly options. Popular items include coffee cake, pecan bars, and mini cheesecakes.
Rising Costs and Economic Pressure Lead to Bakery Closure
Young framed the closure as a positive personal decision. With an optimistic tone, she shared, “I have some news—and while some of you might see it as bad news, it’s honestly some really good news for me. I’m moving!”
Facing personal and economic pressures, Young decided to close the storefront. “Life has been heavy lately. Between everything going on in the world, the reality of being a single mom, the rising cost of ingredients, and an energy bill that now rivals my rent, I have to do what’s best for me. And what’s best for me is bringing my business back home,” stated Young.
Young expressed a great deal of gratitude for the community and shared, “Thank you for every order, every kind word, and every bit of support. And thank you for being such an incredible community these past 5 years.”
The owner of the bakery assured its fans that this “isn’t goodbye. It’s just a change of address.” As The Sweetish Chef winds down its Front Street storefront operations, the sweet treats will be available online.
