A local favorite coffee destination, Terra Cafe has permanently shut down its operations. The cafe had served the Morgantown community with coffee and bakery goods for 15 years. The cafe team cited unsustainable operations and economic challenges as the reason for its closure.
Terra Cafe in Morgantown Shutters
Founded in 2011, the cafe served pastries and coffee at its Morgantown-area location. The space featured a scenic outdoor patio overlooking the rail trail in Star City and was a favorite spot for locals and visitors.
Through a social media announcement, the team behind the establishment shared the closure news. On September 28, the team wrote on Facebook, “It is with deep sadness that we announce the immediate and permanent closure of Terra Café.”
Terra Cafe built its strong following in the community with its flavorful menu and mouthwatering desserts. The cafe sourced all of its ingredients locally and created most of its dishes in-house.
Located at 425 Industrial Avenue, Morgantown, the cafe was part of the community for a decade and a half. The team added a note of gratitude and said that it was an honor to serve the community.
Reason Behind the Closure
In the closure announcement, the cafe team said current economic conditions had made it difficult to sustain the business. The restaurant even adjusted its prices and changed the hours of operation to manage the expenses.
Several longtime customers of the cafe expressed their disappointment on social media following the announcement. One customer wrote, “One of Morgantown’s best gems. The community will surely miss you. Can’t remember the last special occasion we celebrated without a Terra Cafe dessert.”
The team also thanked the community and mentioned, “We will always cherish the laughter, celebrations, and many meals that were shared in our establishment over the last 15 years.”
