St. Paul’s Longtime Vietnamese Restaurant to Close at End of May

Tay Ho announces closure, sets May 28 as its final day of operation after 21 years of service.

After more than two decades of business, a longtime Vietnamese restaurant announces closure. Tay Ho, located on University Ave W STE 100, St. Paul, is preparing to close its doors. The restaurant will serve its final meal on May 28, according to the closure announcement shared on Facebook.

Tay Ho on University Avenue Says Goodbye

Tay Ho is known for its bold, traditional Vietnamese flavors. The space features a casual, homely, and relaxed dining experience with Vietnamese cuisine. The restaurant specializes in Bún bò Huế and classic noodle soups. Other popular items include pork egg rolls and chicken wings.

Owner Phuong Nguyen confirmed the closure on Facebook. She wrote, “For the last twenty-one years, our family was a part of this community. Our last day will be May 28th.”

In the post, she explained that due to “an unfortunate situation, Tay Ho will close shop at the end of May.”

As the restaurant enters its final month of service, the owner encouraged customers to visit for one last meal.

While the Tay Ho doors are closing, the restaurant remains hopeful and said, “This is not goodbye, but see you later. Our next adventure awaits us, and we hope that you follow along.”

A Restaurant Rooted in Community Support

Established in 2005, Phuong Nguyen and her family took a big risk with Tay Ho. In the announcement post, she highlighted, “A vision that was blurry and the uncertainty was real. Opening a restaurant on University Ave in St. Paul with existing Vietnamese restaurants surrounding us was a risk that we were willing to take.”

She further reflected on the positive reaction and strong support Tay Ho received from the community.

“From the beginning, the community welcomed us, and the customers started rolling in. Year after year, we built relationships and memories. Our loyal customers became our family,” read the post.

Nguyen thanked the community and customers and added, “Thank you for trusting us to feed your families day in and day out. Thank you for letting us cater to your events. Thank you for letting us be your comfort and happiness. We would not have made it this far without you all.”

Over the years, with flavorful food and warm hospitality, Tay Ho became a community staple. The closure will mark the end of a long-running presence in St. Paul’s dining scene.
