In 2025, numerous recalls of various products were announced across food-related industries, illustrating that the issues of food safety, accuracy of labeling, and prevention of contamination remain a top concern.

Manufacturers and the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) made efforts to warn consumers when potential allergen or contaminant exposure caused nationwide and multi-state recalls.

Key Product Recalls of 2025 Across Various Industries

Throughout the year, the product recall ranged from food, beverages, and baby products to frozen desserts. The contamination risks, the undeclared allergens, and the labeling errors are some of the concerns that led to recalls. Here’s a list of some of the major cases.

May Flower International Company undertook a nationwide recall of 8.82-ounce/250g plastic packages of Beijing Soybean Paste because the product contained undeclared wheat, which is a potential allergen. It could lead to health risks to consumers with allergies to wheat or gluten.

The issue was identified by the United States Food and Drug Administration during a routine inspection, and fortunately, no cases of illness were reported due to the product.

Ray & Mascari Inc. Recalled Vine-Ripe Tomatoes

Ray and Mascari Inc. recalled 4 Count Vine Ripe Tomatoes that were sold in 11 states because of the risk of Salmonella contamination. Consumers were encouraged to dispose of the affected products or return them to the place of purchase.

Gordon Food Service Stores in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Wisconsin sold the product. The recall was initiated when the repacking company, Hanshaw & Capling Farms, found Salmonella traces in their facility.

FreshRealm recalled its Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo meal due to an outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes. The recalled product was sold nationwide, and Listeria exposure led to severe infections in individuals. Multiple cases of illnesses, hospitalizations, and deaths were reported till October in different states.

The product was sold at Walmart and Kroger under the brand names Marketside and Home Chef. The company initiated the recall when complaints and sampling led to the discovery of this deadly bacterium.

The High Noon brand, famous for its energy drinks and seltzers, recalled some of its Beach Variety Packs after finding out that there were labeling mistakes. The recall was made out of precautionary measures to be able to provide accurate product information.

The recalled pack had vodka-containing cans labeled as Celsius Astro Vibe Energy Drink, which could result in unintentional alcohol consumption among consumers.

After cases of illness started being reported in the states of California and Nevada, Country Eggs, LLC, recalled its Large Brown Cage Free Sunshine Yolks egg packs. The product description was floated, and the FDA also issued the notice for public awareness, urging individuals not to consume eggs from the affected batch.

  • Product Recalled: Sprout Organics Sweet Potato Apple and Spinach 3.5 oz pouch

Sprout Organics voluntarily announced a recall of its Sweet Potato Apple and Spinach pouches for baby food. The possibility of elevated levels of lead in the product prompted the recall of 3.5-ounce pouches.

These pouches were sold in Walgreens and some independent stores in the U.S. South region. The parents and caregivers were advised against feeding the affected products to infants or toddlers.

Zingerman’s Peanut Butter Crush and Zingerman’s Cashew Cow candy bars, distributed in Michigan and New York, underwent recall because of a labeling error. The label did not mention the presence of cashews and peanuts in the candy bars and could have elicited allergic reactions in individuals with nut allergies.

A temporary breakdown in the production and packaging processes of the company was identified as the reason behind this error. There were no cases of illness due to these candy bars, and consumers were duly notified of the issue.

Haagen-Dazs Chocolate Dark Chocolate Mini Bars were recalled nationwide by Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, Inc. because of an undeclared allergen. The company identified products that contain wheat in packaging that does not reveal the presence of wheat on the label as the issue.

The company recommended that consumers look at lot codes and dispose of affected products which were distributed at Kroger in AL, AK, AZ, AR, CA, CO, GA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, MI, MS, MO, MT, NE, NV, NM, OH, OR, SC, TN, UT, VA, WA, WV, WI, and WY; and Giant Eagle stores in IN, MD, OH, PA, and WV.

Food to Live, a popular superfood producer, initiated a national recall of two powdered foods due to the results of a test that showed the possibility of contamination with Salmonella. The issue was identified when multiple illness cases were reported, and the FDA notified Food To Live that a specific supplier lot of organic moringa powder tested positive for Salmonella.

Different sizes of the Organic Supergreens Powder Mix and Organic Moringa Leaf Powder packs were recalled. These were also available on third-party e-commerce platforms.
