Total Care Medical Center LLC has filed a voluntary Chapter 11 bankruptcy petition on October 7. The Aiken-based pharmacy serves the local community and surrounding areas.

Court records on PACER show Kenneth Stephen Hibbitts, the company’s authorized member, signed the petition. Attorney W. Harrison Penn of Penn Law Firm LLC is representing the company. The filing lists unsecured creditor claims but does not state a specific reason for the bankruptcy.

Note: Chapter 11 allows businesses to reorganize their debts while continuing operations under court supervision. Total Care Medical Center LLC has filed for Chapter 11 subchapter V, which provides a streamlined Chapter 11 process for qualifying small business debtors. A Chapter 11 filing does not necessarily mean that a business is closing. For additional information, readers are encouraged to contact the business directly.

Total Care Medical Center LLC has been providing services as a family-owned pharmacy business since 2003. Services include prescription refills and transfers, medication therapy management, custom compounding, immunizations, and multi-dose packaging. Other than the Aiken, South Carolina-based company, several pharmacy service providers across the country have entered bankruptcy.

Volunteer Pharmacy, Inc. submitted its petition to the court on July 13. Court records showed that the Knoxville company faced a gap between its assets and liabilities. The independent retail pharmacy has been in business for nearly 15 years.

A compounding pharmacy from Arizona sought Chapter 11 protection on March 9. The petition showed that Sierra Compounding, LLC decided to move ahead using Subchapter V. The company is doing business as Sierra Pharmacy & Compounding Lab.

On December 31 last year, an Arizona-based pharmacy retail business turned toward bankruptcy. Case filings showed that Uptown Pharmacy Of Kingman, Inc. listed between 50 and 99 creditors in the petition. The company has been providing services in Golden Valley and nearby Mohave County communities.

As Total Care Medical Center LLC joins the series of filings, the upcoming court rulings are expected to shape its financial footing.
