The Irvine restaurant offers a range of items, including grilled dishes, noodles, salads, and cocktails. Gui BBQ draws diners particularly for its highlight items, such as spicy crawfish, stir-fried pork intestine, spicy crabs, and Irvine-style grilled fish.
However, the food establishment was asked to cease food operations temporarily based on health violations. In its recent inspection, the Orange County Health Care Agency identified multiple problem areas and violations.
Inspection Findings
The latest report by the Orange County Health Care Agency states that Gui BBQ was closed voluntarily by the owner/operator before the on-site inspector’s arrival. It instructed the restaurant to stay closed until provisions for handwashing, toilets, and hot & cold portable water were available.
The on-site inspector further stated that the Irvine restaurant must ensure that its freezer units maintain food temperatures of 41°F or below. Similarly, hot food holding units should maintain a temperature of 135°F or above. The inspector ordered the Gui BBQ representative to make sure that damaged food items were removed from sale.
Apart from these, an electrical fire at the cook line, including prep areas and equipment, was reported at the Irvine-based restaurant. Based on these observations, the on-site inspector instructed the restaurant operator to discard food items. Additionally, Gui BBQ must clean and sanitize its utensils, surfaces, and equipment.
The complete inspection report is available online.
While the report didn’t mention a follow-up inspection, Gui BBQ must be prepared to address the reported violations. Corrective measures allow restaurants to comply with health requirements and resume operations.
