Inspectors noted that some food handlers lacked valid California Food Handler cards. An employee was seen using their cellphone before handling food. The employee did not remove their gloves or wash their hands between tasks.
The hand sink in the kitchen was missing soap and paper towels. It was blocked by a plastic water pitcher. Cooked char-siu pork was held at 65°F in the front service area. Potentially hazardous food must be stored at 41°F or below and should not be double-stacked.
Other food items, including bean sprouts, were found to be held at incorrect temperatures. One of the most serious violations was a cockroach infestation. Live cockroaches were seen inside the deep fryer and around the stoves. The dry storage area, prep sink, noodle boiler, deep fryer, and gas stoves revealed dead cockroaches.
Ready-to-eat foods in the facility were stored alongside raw animal products. Food must be properly separated to prevent cross-contamination. Not all food items and containers were stored on shelves or six inches above the floor, as required.
Non-food contact surfaces should be free of any debris or grease accumulation using proper sanitation methods. An opening in the wall behind the stove could allow vermin entry, according to the report. Floor surfaces need to be cleaned properly.
Follow-Up Inspection
Health officials suspended the restaurant’s permit following the inspection. The restaurant will remain closed until all the issues are addressed. The department’s written approval is mandatory for the establishment to resume food handling activities.
The venue must eliminate the cockroach infestation using approved pest control methods. All surfaces, walls, and floors must be sanitized and free of pest or pesticide residue. Any cracks or crevices should be sealed to avoid vermin infestation.
A pest control receipt is mandatory as proof of safety to request a reinspection.
