Italian gelato brand Bacio di Latte is preparing to launch a new location at 1128 Irvine Avenue in Newport Beach, according to county records. Plans have been filed for a project at the address, which would be the second store in the city, following its spot at Fashion Island.

According to records from the Orange County Health Care Agency, the site is undergoing a remodel of over 1,000 square feet, with plans submitted in early April 2025. The status is currently marked as “plans received”.

This expansion is part of the company’s broader U.S. growth strategy, which includes the opening of eight new shops in 2025, a spokesperson for Bacio di Latte told What Now OC. They said more information about this new Newport store will be available soon.

The forthcoming business will occupy a space formerly held by Afters Ice Cream in Westcliff Plaza, Yelp shows. The shopping center also houses several other eateries, like Pandor Artisan Bakery and Café, Fresh Brothers Pizza, The Chicken Shop, OEB Breakfast Co., and ZENSHI Handcrafted Sushi.

Founded in 2011 by Milanese brothers Edoardo and Luigi, the two embarked on a journey across Italy to master traditional gelato-making techniques. After first establishing the brand in Brazil, they have since grown it to also have several stores in California, its website states.
