A Los Angeles concept has been announced as one of the newest culinary additions to Katella Commons, the 50,000-square-foot market hall coming to OCVIBE in Anaheim. From husband-and-wife team Alex “Pobre Diablo” Garcia and Elvia “La Bruja” Huerta, Evil Cooks is slated to debut at the food hall in early 2027. The new outpost will mark the brand’s first Orange County location
Known for its heavy-metal-themed Mexican take on street food, Evil Cooks has won over fans with its creative tacos and uncompromising identity. The concept first gained popularity as a pop-up before opening its brick-and-mortar restaurant in El Sereno.
The restaurant has earned two consecutive James Beard Award nominations and has also been listed on the Los Angeles Times’ 101 Best Restaurants list, helping establish it as one of Southern California’s standout taco destinations.
Evil Cooks joins an expanding lineup of acclaimed operators headed to Katella Commons, including Burritos La Palma, a new Mexitalian concept from the team behind Amiga Amore, Khao Soi from the owners of Manaao Thai Comfort Food, and two new concepts from Darkroom chef Zach Scherer. The market hall is being developed as the culinary centerpiece of OCVIBE, the $5 billion mixed-use entertainment district taking shape around the Honda Center.
While menu details for the Anaheim location have not yet been announced, guests can expect the same rebellious spirit and chef-driven take on Mexican street food that made Evil Cooks a destination in Los Angeles.
