A beloved Australian gelato brand known for its artisanal flavors is expanding its presence in Southern California. Gelatissimo will be opening a location in Irvine at the University Center, a press release from the company states.

Rey Maninang is the franchisee overseeing both the Irvine location and an upcoming Newport Beach store. Leases for both have been executed, and the company is working through permitting. It’s expected to be a four-week build-out.

“We were blown away by the superior flavor, creaminess, and the natural ingredients; the mango flavor literally tastes like biting into a real, fresh mango,” said Rey of trying out Gelatissimo.

This University Center location is slated for a November debut, the brand tells What Now OC. The plaza is located near the I-405, I-5, I-73, and I-55 freeways, as well as John Wayne Airport. It has big-name anchor stores like Target and Trader Joe’s and a movie theater.
