A century-old winery in Rancho Cucamonga is in the midst of a major revitalization project as it lands in the hands of a large-scale developer. The land at 12467 Base Line Road is set for redevelopment that will add a tasting room, museum, and event spaces, permits show.
It is National CORE’s first foray into the commercial world with the 14-acre property, which it assumed the lease for earlier this year. The business has enlisted the help of Pamela A. Ricci of RRMD Design as it navigates the planning and permitting process. A site development and minor use permit are listed as “review in progress”.
Records filed with the city in late July show the company plans to renovate the structure on the site into a museum, add a tasting room with an outdoor deck overlooking the vineyards, and add a kitchen and event spaces. The project will take place in phases, Daily Bulletin reports.
The vineyard has a long history in the community: it was originally founded as Regina Winery in 1916 and became Joseph Filippi Winery in 1922. It represents the remaining tiny percentage of what used to be expansive grape fields covering the region.
National CORE did not return a request for comment about its plans.
