Joe Coffee, a beloved seaside cafe and bakery from Provincetown, Massachusetts, is getting ready to open in Palm Springs at 577 East Sunny Dunes Road.

The Palm Springs location will bring the Provincetown cafe’s strong coffee, house-made baked goods, and community-focused atmosphere to the Sunny Dunes District, behind Jaco Moretti Arts, according to the Palm Springs Tribune. Owners Mark Shaw and Glenn Siegmund, lifelong friends who are actively involved in daily operations, plan to open in late December 2026. The cafe will feature the same menu from Provincetown, including vegan and gluten-free options, with West Coast-inspired additions based on local preferences. It will be dog-friendly, kid-friendly, and LGBTQ-inclusive.

The building, designed by noted Palm Springs architect Howard Lapham, sits among small businesses including Townie Bagel, Tool Shed, Q Trading, Plant This, Gear, and Jaco Moretti Arts. Joe Coffee aims to revitalize the district while offering a relaxed, welcoming environment inspired by the seaside charm of its original location.

Coffee at the cafe will be sourced from Indigo Roasters in Northampton, Massachusetts, featuring organic, fair-trade, and Swiss-water-decaffeinated blends. Baristas will be trained to provide a high-quality, customized coffee experience. Shaw and Siegmund plan to be hands-on in Palm Springs to maintain consistency in both menu and service.

Founded in 1998, the Provincetown cafe has built a following with espresso drinks, lemonades, frozen beverages, breakfast sandwiches, pastries, and carrot cake. Joe Coffee also offers grab-and-go items, retail coffee, and merchandise, including mugs, t-shirts, and hoodies. The Palm Springs location will feature outdoor seating and a laid-back, community-focused atmosphere.

The cafe will provide a platform for local artists, musicians, and community events, continuing the brand’s commitment to fostering connection and inclusive neighborhood culture. The Palm Springs location will mark Joe Coffee’s first expansion to the West Coast, bringing its signature New England charm to Southern California.
