Smoking Tiger Coffee & Bread, a specialty Korean coffee and pastry brand, continues to expand across SoCal, with records showing it intends to open a shop in Huntington Beach. Plans filed with the Orange County Health Care Agency show it’s seeking permission for alterations at 16622 Beach Blvd #102n.

It states the brand is doing a “food remodel over 1,000 square feet”. The county received the plans in late January, but the last listed status update, from February 11, says “unable to approve”. The timeline for permitting and construction is unclear, and the company told What Now OC there are other locations they are working on first.

The concept was established in 2020 and offers unique drinks and house-baked pastries, with influence from traditional Korean elements with modern aesthetics. Its menu online shows that options vary by location, but favorites include the flavored lattes (sweet corn, banana milk Latte, and Jeju Matcha Latte) and snacks like Cream Cheese Garlic Bread, Salt Bread, Kimchi Musubi Croissant, and mochi.

Currently, Smoking Tiger operates six locations in the area, including Buena Park, Cerritos, Brea, Whittier, San Gabriel Valley, and Gardena. The company also has plans to open other shops in the summer, in Garden Grove, Rowland Heights, Pomona, and Monterey Park.
