Irvine will soon get a taste of one of Orange County’s most celebrated Thai restaurants. Manaao Thai Comfort Food, which has a location in Tustin, is preparing to open a second location at 670 Spectrum Center Dr, Suite 771, Irvine Standard reports.

“We’re excited to open our second location at the Irvine Spectrum,” owner Kanate Ungkasrithongkul told What Now OC. “This prime location will offer greater access to those already familiar with our establishment while exposing us to new diners. We look forward to introducing guests to our favorite Thai dishes and flavors that may be new to them, all while offering warm and welcoming hospitality.”

A company representative told the publication that the project is in the permitting phase and anticipates starting the hiring process in the next six to eight weeks. The latest update from the Orange County Health Care Agency shows that the plans need revisions.

The Irvine restaurant will offer the same menu as Tustin, where it’s known for bold, authentic flavors. Favorite dishes include Khao Soi, Gaeng Hung Lay, Holy Basil and Chili, Sai Ua, Gaeng Som, Thai Boat Noodle soup, Mama Tom Yum Hot Pot, and Spicy Braised Pork Ribs.

Ungkasrithongkul is a native of Saraburi, Thailand, and immigrated to the United States in 2000 to pursue a Master’s degree. He worked in the computer science and web development fields, including at Experian, until launching Manaao two years ago.
