As the renowned sandwich chain Mendocino Farms continues its growth, Costa Mesa will welcome a second iteration of the restaurant, records show. The company has filed a liquor license application for a property at 2799 Harbor Blvd.

This new store will occupy the former Boston Market space at the intersection of Harbor Boulevard and Adams Avenue. Its arrival will inject new life into the 2,994-square-foot building that has been vacant for over a year. It is part of The Shops at Mesa Verde complex.

The fast-casual eatery is famed for signature sandwiches and salads, made with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. Respected for its environmentally-conscious menu and community-focused ethos, Mendocino Farms has become a popular figure in the clean eating scene.

Founded in 2005 by Mario Del Pero and Ellen Chen-Del Pero, the chain started in Los Angeles but has grown into a formidable business with nearly 100 locations. There are 63 stores in California, 10 in Texas, and two in Washington, with many more planned.
