A new establishment called Chai Society Cafe is preparing to open its first brick-and-mortar location this summer in Placentia. According to leasing records, the company, which previously operated as a catering business, is confirmed as a tenant at 505-535 W. Crowther Ave. Unit 1.

The business signed a 10-year lease for 2,293 square feet on the ground floor of the Jefferson Cenza, a luxury mixed-use community. LoopNet listings show the company leased a large corner shell and that the adjoining four units are still available.

Chai Society Cafe is the conception of Aaqib Lakhani, who has a part in several business ventures, including Nimbus Mocktails, Lakhani Insurance, Maq Strategies, and The Patio at Burns Road. Lakhani blocked all attempts by the publication to learn more about his background or the new venture.

Its Instagram page explains the company was created “to bring what Southern California lacked—cultural richness and the homey feeling of authentic Pakistani chai.” Posts from its catering events show a menu of hot and iced chai, refreshing drinks like Mango Cooler and Rose Cooler, as well as snacks and desserts.
