Panda Express is set to make its mark in San Juan Capistrano, taking over the location previously occupied by Saladworks. The QSR chain will be moving into the property at 31876 Del Obispo Street, Suite 102.

Plans filed with the Orange County Health Care Agency’s Environmental Health Division show the company wishes to remodel the space to accommodate a Panda Express business. Currently, plans are listed as “unable to approve”.

The location is strategically positioned in the Del Obispo Shopping Center. It’s filling the old Saladworks shell, after the East Coast-based healthy eatery after a short stint there. The large-scale shopping plaza features other retailers like Target, Dollar Tree, Marshalls, and several other commercial businesses.

In recent years, Panda Express has shown impressive growth. The brand grew 2.5% in 2022 and increased sales by 16%, reaching $5.1 billion in revenue. Recently, the chain has incorporated new dim sum items and drive-thru AI technology.
