According to country records, Philz Coffee, the coffeehouse chain known for its handcrafted pour-over coffee, is expanding to Brea. Set to open at 1065 Brea Mall Building C, Suite 1240, Philz will soon join the lineup of exciting new additions at the redeveloped Brea Mall.

The arrival is part of the mall’s multimillion-dollar transformation, introducing a variety of high-profile dining and retail concepts. Philz Coffee will complement new restaurants like Din Tai Fung, Pacific Catch, and North Italia, as well as other pending tenants, including Zara and The Alley.

Plans filed with the Orange County Health Care Agency  Environmental Health Division show the company is seeking to build a new restaurant under 2,000 square feet. Those plans are marked as received in November but were listed as unable to be approved last week.

Philz Coffee began in 2003 in San Francisco’s Mission District, as part of Phil Jaber’s experiment to create the perfect cup of coffee. Over two decades later, the chain operates in more than 70 locations across California and the Chicago area.
