Viva La Boba, the beloved boba tea shop that has become a downtown San Bernardino staple, is expanding its reach to Redlands. A new location is coming to 501 Orange St, according to the business’ website.

At the corner of Orange Street and Stuart Avenue, the shop is scheduled for an early 2025 opening. It will be catty-corner to the upcoming Shake Shack, adding to the buzz in the area.

The shop’s co-owners, Tansu Philip and David Friedman, are both Redlands residents. They opened the San Bernardino location in March 2019 after garnering influence from Mexico, China, Denmark, and England.

The menu at Viva La Boba menu goes beyond just boba tea. It features a wide range of innovative and flavorful drinks, including mangonadas, horchata, lemonades, coffees, slushies, and smoothies. They also have freshly baked cookies and brownies sourced from local bakeries.

“We’re thrilled to be opening a Viva La Boba in our beloved hometown of Redlands! As Redlands’ first community-focused boba shop, we can’t wait to serve the best boba in the Inland Empire. At Viva, we aim to make everyone feel at home—whether you’re here for a meeting, study date, or just hanging out. Our comfortable seating, free high-speed Wi-Fi, and dog-friendly patio at our San Bernardino location are all part of what makes Viva special. Our Redlands location will be even better! We proudly celebrate our diverse community, hosting events like open mics, book clubs, and art shows, and supporting local artists through our BIPOC Artist of the Month Program. Viva La Boba is a safe space for the LGBTQIA+ community and a proud advocate for inclusivity and diversity. Community is the backbone of everything we do,” Tansu told What Now OC.
