The Racquet Club of Irvine (RCI), a long-standing recreational hub at 5 Ethel Coplen Way, is undergoing a major transformation, with a brand-new restaurant at the heart. A notice on the facility’s website explains that the dining facility will be completely updated.

“We are working hard remodeling RCI to make it the Premier Club in Orange County.  Our new restaurant is currently under construction,” it states. In addition, the club’s main building will be reconstructed with a new Pro Shop and weight room.

Posts show that the private tennis and fitness facility used to house an eatery called Top Spin Bar and Grill, while other pages show the new name could possibly be Racquets. While a timeline for the project is unclear, job postings were recently up for a food and beverage manager position on-site.

Founded in 1981, RCI boasts 28 tennis courts, a fitness center, a Jr. Olympic swimming pool, and an outdoor Jacuzzi. The business’s decision to update amenities on the property comes after KB Home proposed replacing it with condominiums and a senior living center years ago — a deal that fell apart, according to Irvine Watchdog.
